I decided to actually read about Jeff Koons. I've never had a real grasp on what he does really. After reading the wiki article i have decided that hi bullshit plastic art is not worth it. his neo-pop sculpture is dry and over used, although some of his saturated photos and smaller, less iconic forms are kind of interesting. the fact that he seems like a total try hard ass hole is a turn off. He apparently refers to himself in the third person during interviews and occasionally interviews himself, he commissioned a song about himself from band Momus, his work sells for extortionate prices, his work apparently has no meaning, and he married a porn star and blew up explicit images of them having sex for no particular reason. He claims that fame doesn't interest him, just the significance his work has on society blah blah. I don't think his giant blow up balloons are quite having as much effect if that infamous multimillion dollar name-tag wasn't attached. He could only be ridiculous persona of an artist if his work was actually good. H supposedly operates under the feelgood mantra. I remain skeptical. maybe he is feel good, but its too predictable, boring and overly kitsch.
